While claiming that they did nothing wrong, two of the three Sleepy Hollow officials accused in a criminal complaint filed with the NYS Attorney General's Office, have retained counsel. It is highly unusual for innocent people to feel the need to hire a criminal defense lawyer, so the question must be asked, why Janet Gandolfo and Karin Wompa felt compelled to do so. It is interesting to consider that the third member of the trio, Susan Roth, didn't join her two cohorts (or possibly wasn't invited to join them) in obtaining counsel. Is she being set up as the "fall guy" by the other two?
Intriguingly, the attorney that Gandolfo and Wompa retained is none other than former Sleepy Hollow Village Justice, John Lewis, a loyal member of the Gandolfo fold - who no doubt, is obliged to handle this matter for her. We at the Blog hope that the former Judge did his homework before taking on this case, and knows what he is getting himself into! The evidence against his clients is overwhelming and he will have his hands full in trying to defend them. That is unless Susan Roth will be offered up as the sacrificial lamb, and she will take the fall for all!

If the allegations are true, then Gandolfo and Wompa are definitely setting this Roth woman up to take the fall. Wompa wants to oust Ken Wray from the Mayor's seat in this March's election so that she can preside over the GM lot development. Gandolfo needs Wompa to be elected b/c she knows that Ken Wray is not going to have her serve as the village attorney if he's re-elected. Wompa wants to be Mayor not only to appease that MASSIVE ego of hers, but also to see what other types of monetary benefits she can gain from being in charge of the BILLION dollar development that is going to begin after the next election. If the developer needs a variance, or a "special" permit, I'm sure that Karin Wompa would be more than happy to make the accommodation.......in exchange for, lets say, a sales job marketing the real estate once the project is complete, or perhaps money! If she and Gandolfo could not help themselves with $200K in state grant money, then what are they going to do when $1 Billion dollars is being shuffled around???? One thing is for sure though.....they have to make sure they come away from this grant scheme clean to get elected. So, you can expect them to pin everything on Susan Roth. I mean, Janet Gandolfo has already begun to do so in her letter to the editor on the Hudson Independent website. If I were Susan Roth, I would cooperate with the Attorney General's office and would not protect Karin Wompa or Janet Gandolfo. As far as John Lewis is concerned...I hope he knows who he is dealing with. Janet's reputation for being less than ethical proceeds herself and now this guy's reputation is on the line. I hope, for his sake, that he did his homework on this one. But, if I had to guess, Big Momma probably implemented her most commonly used tactic of "pump and dump" where she routinely word-smiths things and tells half truths to get other people to do her dirty work. In the end, she comes out unscathed and the other guy ends up looking like the fool.
ReplyDeleteThere is no way Karin Wompa is going to get elected Mayor.....she's just not capable enough to handle the job, period. BTW......when is Mayor Wray and the board of trustees going to look into and address Evelyn Stuppel's fraud case where she sold some poor people her house with an illegal apartment? According to their very own Village Code, Chapter 34, (Code of Ethics):

Evelyn Stuppel did not disclose the fact that she changed the Village Code so she could sell her home. So, my question is, why is she still on the board???
The developer who bought the GM property is in for a RUDE awakening! Once he deals with that board, he is going to regret the day he came to Sleepy Hollow.
