TRAMPLING ON THE 1ST AMENDMENT AND THE RIGHTS OF THE PEOPLE IN SLEEPY HOLLOW

In recent weeks, signs like the one pictured below have been sprouting up all around the Village of Sleepy Hollow. 

 



However, the signs don't seem to stand for long.  Apparently the message that is carried by these signs has struck a nerve with some Village officials (especially the Village Attorney and a Village Trustee).  As a matter of fact, some Village officials have been seen driving around the Village at all hours of the day and night (even during the wee hours of the morning) on "sign patrol", and removing the signs.  It has been said that even Village employees have been pressed into service to remove the signs; including during times while they are on duty.  Why do these signs receive such special attention, while other signs don't face the same treatment?  Similar signs that carry different messages are regularly posted around the Village (e.g. real estate signs, tag/garage sale signs, etc.) and continue to stand untouched.  Why are these signs targeted?  Is it because the TRUTH hurts? What has become of the PEOPLE'S Right to Free Speech? 

  

These Village Officials are desperately trying to prevent the public from becoming aware of their sordid activities, and hope that by removing the signs in the middle of the night, the public won't see the signs, or the message they present.  How sad!  These signs have been placed on Public property.  Public property belongs to the PEOPLE, and if the PEOPLE choose to express themselves by placing signs upon that public property, they have a Constitutional right to do so.  But, it would seem that the PEOPLE'S attempt to exercise their Constitutional Rights interferes with the efforts of certain Village officials to hide their dirty secrets.  After all, there's a Village election coming up soon.  The TRUTH would obviously be very damaging to a certain slate of candidates.  So, it must be hidden at any cost. 

 

While these public officials may not like the signs, the signs are totally accurate in their message.  FACTS - Village Officials have misused their authority, misappropriated public funds disbursed by the NY Main Street Grant Program, and violated the public trust.  That is CORRUPTION.  Members of the Village Board clearly discriminated against a decorated Marine veteran by not hiring him for a position with the Sleepy Hollow Police Department, a position that he was abundantly qualified for.  That is DISCRIMINATION.  And now, these shameless officials violate the Constitutional Rights of their constituents.  Obviously, the Constitution is the enemy of corruption and corrupt officials.  By their actions it would appear that these officials don't believe in the PEOPLE'S right to express themselves.  The mantra of these corrupt individuals seems to be - the Constitution be damned!  These officials want to stifle Free Speech and Freedom of Expression.  They support a policy which bullies and intimidates the people into submission, and causes the residents to fear the government.  Their conduct is UN-AMERICAN!

 

Keep in mind the famous words of Jefferson - When the government fears the people, there is FREEDOM; when the people fear the government there is TYRANNY.  Which do you want Sleepy Hollow - FREEDOM or TYRANNY?  You will have an opportunity to make that choice in March.

For the good of the Village, its residents and the Constitution, these CROOKS MUST GO!
