UPDATE: TOWN SUPERVISOR FULGENZI'S RAISE IS MUCH MORE LUCRATIVE THAN FIRST REPORTED!!
On August 25, 2016, we posted an article, "Congratulations to Mt. Pleasant Supervisor Carl Fulgenzi for being named one of Westchester's highest paid elected officials by the Journal News", referencing a Journal News report which cited a recent $3,000 raise that Town Supervisor Carl Fulgenzi had bestowed upon himself. Well, while that report was in fact accurate, it would now appear that Supervisor Fulgenzi was much more generous to himself than first thought, and we at the Blog have found that Mr. Fulgenzi's salary actually increased by much more than the $3,000 reported by the Journal News. Much, much more.
The November 14, 2014, edition of 'The Examiner News' reported that when Town Supervisor Fulgenzi was first appointed to his current position, following the abrupt departure of the previous Town Supervisor Joan Maybury, his salary at the time was fixed at $135,000. His salary now, as reported by the Journal News, is $148,703, meaning that in the approximately 21 months that Supervisor Fulgenzi has served in his current position, his salary has increased by an incredible $13,703, a 10.15% raise. How many of you taxpayers have received a 10% raise in salary over the last 21 months? Most likely few, if any. And, remember, his raise is paid for by your tax dollars! How many residents knew that Mr. Fulgenzi had treated himself so well? Where is the oversight from the Town Board members? Was the public made aware of any potential salary increases before they were authorized? Did the public have an opportunity to comment on any potential salary increase for the Supervisor? When was such a substantial salary increase approved and why? Did the Town Board actually vote to approve such an exorbitant raise? These questions need to be answered. The public needs to hold our elected officials accountable and demand that they act as good stewards of the public's funds; especially now, in the current difficult economy. Will Supervisor Fulgenzi and the members of the Town Board respond to the questions posed above? They have an obligation to do so. The People have a right to know the answers.
And why is he allowed use of a town vehicle on a 24 hr basis?
