HOPING THAT RESIDENTS WILL FORGET TO VOTE AND THE BOARD WILL PASS THEIR FINANCIALLY IRRESPONSIBLE BOND THROUGH A LOW TURNOUT

DON'T ALLOW THE BOARD TO SNEAK THE BOND THROUGH - COME OUT AND VOTE

The Board split up this bond into three parts/propositions, to confuse and deceive the voters.  The Board hoped to make the overall price tag look smaller and not as intimidating by splitting the cost over three propositions.  But, when you add up the three proposals, the price tag is $42.4 million, a very intimidating sum.

There were no advertisements/signs/fliers alerting the public to or reminding them of the Bond vote scheduled for Tuesday.  That was intentional - the Board figured that if less voters showed up, it had a better chance of getting its bloated and fiscally unsound bond passed.  However, the Board did not expect the public to rise up and bring attention to the Bond vote.  The Board's plan of secrecy was dashed. 

At Mount Pleasant Exposed, we feel that until this Board can demonstrate to residents that they are capable of fiscal responsibility and accountability, it should not be given any more taxpayer money to squander.  Consider the problem that currently exists with patronage jobs and nepotism in the School system - for example, one School Board member has two family members working in the School System, one of whom actually works in the Superintendent's office.  What credentials do those relatives have to qualify for those positions?  Do taxpayers get the best value for their dollar when hiring's are kept "all in the family".  Coincidence, or nepotism?  

Many residents cannot afford continued tax increases.  If this Bond passes, Senior citizens, many who live on fixed incomes, will see their limited income reduced further.  Young families, who are just starting out, will not be able to live in a community where tax rates continually escalate.  Today's economy causes most families to tighten their belts to make ends meet.  Unfortunately, the School Board doesn't understand what belt-tightening means.  When it faces economic challenges, the Board doesn't look to cut back on spending, it simply reaches into the pockets of the taxpayers to pay for its exorbitant tastes.  That must stop and the Board needs to become fiscally responsible.

We wish that the Board of Education would put as much emphasis on educating the students, as it does in providing unnecessary amenities, like those contained in the three Bond proposals.  But, it doesn't seem that education is the priority for this Board.  It is more interested in turf fields and weight rooms. 


ON TUESDAY, STOP THIS BOARD FROM WASTING MORE OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.  SIMPLY VOTE NO - THREE TIMES
